Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali, died this week.  He was a great man.  He was a believer in living for the moment and being the best that he could be.

“Don’t count the days, make the days count” – Muhammad Ali

You have got to live your life now.  As they say, you never know what tomorrow will bring.  Have you ever had something that you needed/wanted  to do but decided that it could wait until tomorrow.  Each day you waste may approach a deadline that you will reach one day.  When that day comes you will regret not taking action sooner.  One day there will be no more tomorrows.  As my previous post said you have a superpower that no one can take away from you the only thing stopping you from achieving all you want in life is either procrastination or fear.

Once again, he had the right idea and he managed to go a long way.  He managed to get the heavy weight title at the age of 22 and went on to win 56 matches, 37 as knock outs. Every one of these fights could have been a loss but he entered the ring anyway and did his best because he believed he could win.  He was quoted as saying that he was the greatest and

“It’s the lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believe in myself.”

What do I do then?

Start by making a list of the things you want to achieve in life, things you want to do before you die.  Some call this their bucket list ( a list of things to do before you  ” kick the bucket”) Now you need to make sure this list is visible somewhere you will see it everyday.  Have you heard of the phrase “out of sight, out of mind”?  If you want to do these things you need to remember to do them.  Some people find that words are enough, others need to hear them so will find it better to read the list out to themselves as a mantra or an affirmation (where you state that you have already achieved all of these things already and are totally worth it.  It may help to create what some people call a vision board, for those that remember pictures better you can print out pictures of the things you want (or in some cases pictures that represent the things you want).  In reality we all remember using all of these things so try a vision board with words on it and read them to yourself, out loud, every day.

Here is an example of one of mine.

travel the world

It’s not subtle at all but it works for me.  So far I have managed to travel to many places.  Spain, France, Greece, Turkey, USA and more.  I have found that by having this image in mind I have managed to spot more opportunities to make it possible. One of my trips to Spain was because I entered a competition in a travel agent window and won it.  I went to Turkey when I was on holiday in Greece and there was a cheap boat trip available and I went for it.  My most recent was that I was asked if I wanted to come along with a local children’s orchestra when they were going to perform in Poland.  Guess what?  I did it last week.  What was even better was that while I was there I got the chance to go to a mountain on the border with the Czech Republic, so I climbed it and managed to cross the border and visit there too.   Once again I had the chance to see two countries in one trip. See?  It’s not very clear but it’s me standing in the border office.

different countries

If I didn’t have this goal in mind, would I have seen these opportunities?  I don’t think so.  If I saw them and didn’t do anything about it would I have been to so many places and experienced so many things?  I don’t think so either, I may have just walked past that travel agent with my mind on other things, or seen the sign and thought I shouldn’t enter because “I never win anything” or “what chance do I have?” or ” I don’t have time, maybe I’ll come back later.”  If you have ever thought like this about anything what could you have missed?  Would you have missed an opportunity to make one of your dreams come true?

You want to live your life rather than just survive until you die.  Each day you need check out your list/vision board to remind yourself how you want to best live your life.  Your dreams/goals will be on your mind and your subconscious will then be on the lookout for things that will help you achieve these goals.  Look for the signs.  Your subconscious can only do so much, it can only show you the way, you need to DO something about it.  So take Muhammad Ali’s advice; “don’t count the days, make the days count.”

Hi, I was born in England and trained as a teacher, tried sales, and management then returned to my first love of teaching. In the evenings I am a self employed karaoke DJ. I love to teach and coach others to improve their lives and be their best.

of course like your web-site but you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I to find it very bothersome to tell the reality however I will definitely come again again.
